Cyberattacks on health care organizations are increasing. Health care organizations store vast amounts of personal data, and 83% of those recently surveyed reported an increase in cyberattacks over the past year. About two-thirds reported cyberattacks that were more sophisticated, 45% had attacks where the goal was destruction of data, and 66% had ransomware attacks. Yearly cybersecurity worker training occurs at 84% of health care organizations, and 45% offer training multiple times a year. Prevention is the best antidote, and regular education of employees, greater awareness of cyber threats, and building threat-hunting teams all help to curb cyberattacks.
